Hello from Harmony!

For the last two years we have enjoyed the talent and friendship of Tom Smith, our tenor singer. I am saddened to announce that he is leaving the group. From the outset, we have known that our time together would possibly be limited, due to his soon graduation from the University of North Texas and his many church and family commitments. However, it is never easy to lose a talent like Tom. I know you will want to join us in wishing he and Tiffany the very best in the days to come.

Another very difficult announcement we must make at this time is the decision of David Smith, our (crazy) piano player/writer/arranger to come off the road to spend more time with his family and devote more time to his duties as deacon at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Greenville. If you have followed us for any length of time, you will know what an incredible asset he has been to Harmony. From that very first rehearsal 5 years ago he has helped to foster our performance style and ministry to the extent that you now know and enjoy. So, if you don't like us....he's to blame! Kidding. Join us in wishing he, Andrea and the boys much happiness and blessings in the days ahead.

Now on to us! We are still pushing ahead answering calls and singing God's message to those who enjoy southern gospel music. I am pleased to announce the addition of tenor singer and former founder of the Crusader Quartet, Brian Rayburn. Brian tried to retire recently, but we picked him up and dusted off the mothballs, and he's commited to singing with us until puberty takes his voice. Seriously, we are excited to have him with the group. Although, I'm a little nervous when he comes to rehearsals with his handgun from his day job with the Dallas County Sherrifs Department.

I hope you will all take time to join us for a good ole' fashion singin' this Sunday at Seagoville First Baptist, and later in the day at Trinity Assembly of God in Kilgore, TX.

Blessings!

Hello Harmony Fans,

Wow it’s been a long time since our last news update, but that sure doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy!  The last year has been incredible for the Harmony Quartet.  With the addition of a new tenor singer (Tom Smith), release of our latest CD (That’ll Preach), and even having Elvis sing with us; oh wait a second I think that’s Elvis having us sing with him.  As the year has progressed, we have truly seen God’s hand upon our ministry.

First off I hope you have noticed our new and improved website.  Notice the updated news articles, pictures, and product pages.  A big thanks to our Webmaster for helping us with that! I hope you have noticed our calendar and from attending our concerts that they are becoming more frequent.  We have been singing almost every weekend and will continue as long as the Lord provides those dates for us.  Lets see what now?  Oh, That’ll Preach, and no I’m not talking about this news article, that’s the title to our new recording.

That’ll Preach is a collection of songs special to the quartet.  Each of us was involved in picking songs that were special to us in some way.  The CD includes songs such as, Walk That Lonesome Road, Never Been This Homesick, The Lighthouse, Who Am I, Oh My Lord What A Time, Father Along and many other favorites.  We hope this CD will bless you like it has us.  Released only two weeks ago it’s hot off the press so don’t miss your chance to purchase That’ll Preach.

Last but certainly not least, we have been given the opportunity to sing backup for Mr. Tim McCracken Jr. (www.timmccrackenjr.com) who performs his astounding tribute to Elvis at the Grapevine Opry in Grapevine, Texas.  We will be doing a series of six shows through December of this year.  It is a wonderful time for good clean fun and fellowship.  Tim is a fine man and we are proud to have the opportunity to serve with him.

Well, I think that about says it for now.  A little long but had a lot to catch up on.  Please visit our website frequently to see the latest Harmony updates and don’t forget That’ll Preach.  As always, thank you for your loving prayers and support.

God Bless!
Harmony

I am pleased to announce that our search for a replacement for long time tenor and fan favorite John Fulton has ended. Tom Smith, will begin singing with Harmony in mid-June and we are excited to have him aboard.  We had to send out to the post office for his picture, but promise to have it up soon.  Thanks for all of those who auditioned and for the many prayers lifted up!

God is still moving and The Harmony Quartet is still singin' folks. We were sad to announce recently that John Fulton(tenor), is leaving the group, however we are glad that God will be using him in church ministry in the days ahead. We are urgently seeking God's direction in finding John's replacement, and continue to let God open doors of ministry for us.

Bill BryanWe are saddened to announce the death of our good friend and former bass singer, Bill Bryan.  Bill passed away of heart failure early this morning at his home.

Bill, as many of you remember, suffered a heart attack in the late eighties resulting in the loss of approximately one half of his heart.  Though physically compromised by the loss, Bill's desire to serve the Lord through singing gospel music grew even stronger and God allowed him to sing and witness to thousands during the last decade.

Though we are grieving the loss of a friend, husband, father and grandfather, we rejoice with Bill in his long anticipated homegoing.

June / July 2003

Greetings everyone from the Harmony Quartet.  Thanks to all of you who have bought our brand new release (March) "Harmony Live".

This was a project we had a great deal of fun doing last Fall at the Farmersville Opry in Farmersville, TX.  The crowd that night was great and with the help of a few friends, we had a great blend of some new Harmony songs as well as a few classic Southern Gospel favorites.  We are busy at work in the studio as we speak on a collection of southern gospel standards.  It should release sometime around NQC in September.

In addition to all the recording we've been doing, God has been opening a lot of doors for our concerts and the crowds have been great.  The bus has been behaving (thank God), and allowing us to get out and meet many new fans across the country.  We introduced a new concert series this year at the First Baptist Church in Trenton, TX (quarterly), and after a great concert in April with The Texans, we are following this month with the fabulous Lamp recording artists, The Relations!  This is an opportunity to for all our fans to hear some really wonderful southern gospel legends who are not in this area often.  We look forward to seeing you there.

In an effort to build our fan base from within, we are pleased to announce that David (piano) and his lovely wife Andrea are having another little boy sometime in late August (he assures us it's before the convention in Louisville).

Finally, we are so glad that God has placed us in this ministry at this time in our world.  We are seeing lives changed and are privileged to experience the Holy Spirit at work in our concerts and church venues across the land.  Thank you to all of you who support us and pray for our travels.

God Bless you until next time.
Harmony

October 2002

Well folks, as I sit down to write this little note, I am so excited about the opportunities God is providing Harmony this Fall.  And speaking of Fall, how can it be Fall when it's still 95 degrees in Texas?  Oh well.  We had a great time in September at the Heavensound Showcase at the National Quartet Convention.  We got to see a lot of good friends there like Jericho Road, Shiloh, The New Plainsmen, and Early Praises, just to name a few.  Next year Harmony will have their own booth at the convention, so please put it on your schedule to drop by.

Our LIVE project is due out of the studio in the next few weeks.  It turned out fantastic!!  We were thrilled that Wunderland Studios out of Sachse, TX was able to make us sound much better than we are.  Thanks to Jimmy Duty, Renata, Dennis and Ron from His Call for their valuable help and friendship.  If you are interested in ordering a copy of this live CD, please call 214-502-4637.  If you get a chance to hear His Call locally, make it a must....these guys (and girl) are GREAT.

It's Fall, so it must mean it's time for Danny Funderburk and Harmony to be in concert....that's right folks, the legendary former tenor for the Cathedrals and Harmony will take the stage at the First Baptist Church in Benbrook, Texas on November 2nd.  The concert begins at 6:30, and tickets are available for $5 advance and $7 at the door.

Please check our calendar for our performance schedule, and come by and visit with us a spell.  (That's how we say it in Tennessee.)

We had a great weekend in East Texas at the SGMA convention.  Thanks to all who had a part in planning the event.  And finally, thanks to Ricky Woods at the East Texas Gospel Jamboree for his hospitality, and Merlene Seago for the BISCUITS!!!!!

God Bless!
Harmony

April 2002

We are excited to announce the addition of the three newest members to Harmony.  Duane Daniel will join us on the bass part, Keith Gilliam will sing lead and Brad Helmer has joined us to add percussion to our music.  All are experienced southern gospel musicians and singers.  Keith and Duane having previously sung together in the Calvary Boys Quartet.  Keith also sang lead with the legendary Toney Brothers.  Brad is an accomplished percussionist formerly with Boundless Love.  More information and photos of Duane, Keith and Brad will be available shortly on our biography page.

Former bass singer, Bill Bryan, and lead singer Steve Clowe have left Harmony to pursue other ministry opportunities.  Beloved piano player, Gene Clowe has left to develop an innovational fund raising business with his lovely wife Joanne.  Each of these gentlemen has contributed greatly to the ministry of Harmony over the last two years, and we wish them God's best in the days ahead.

Much is happening these days as we rehearse for upcoming concerts with our new members.  Check our schedule page frequently in the days ahead.  We are currently in discussions with Son Sound records to release nationally "America Look Up", written by John.

We had the privilege of hearing The New Plainsmen Quartet, with Duane Petty on baritone recently.  You need to hear this group folks!  Billy and the guys are really sounding great!

Our latest project "Giving Him Praise", is now available on the web page.  Look on the products page.

God Bless!
Harmony

January 2002

As I sit down to write this update, I am already thinking about the football games and great food I will enjoy at Glenn Baker's New Years Eve Harmony Party.  Glenn and his lovely wife Carole are our host throughout the year for our rehearsals and such.  They are truly great to us and we appreciate their friendship and willingness to help.  So for that relationship we are truly grateful.  Also, thinking back on the year, I am reminded of those who have played a key role in keeping this year eventful for Harmony.

Our good friends at KSKY (the Dallas leader in southern gospel music) Gordon Griffin and Lon Sosh, Jim Ansley a good friend and local promoter, Rocky Gribble and the people at Yellow Rose Productions, Royell Clark, Producer, JD Watson at Center Tree Records, Mike McClain at McClain's Studio in Garland, TX., Todd Bell, "The best worship leader in America", and director of our home choir at Prestonwood Baptist Church, Terry Barger (our webmaster), Gary Allen at Heavensound.com, John and Mary Banks, Odis Bryan, Chris Machen and all of the other Christian writers who contributed to our latest recording, the countless pastors and worship leaders who so generously provided opportunities for Harmony to minister this year, the Hardcastle Family from St. Louis who provided the latest addition to Harmony (the MCI bus), Slim and Zella Mae Cox from station WEW in St. Louis, Dr. Jack Graham, our pastor and good friend and pastor John West and his dear wife Charlotte, and fellow quartets (His Call, The Crusaders, Shiloh, Early Praises and Southern Spirit).

But most of all...we are thankful that God has continued to keep His hand upon us.  We are His sheep, and thankful for the Shepherd who has led us through sometimes trying and stressful times; but He has faithfully provided and opened doors...many doors!!! too numerous to mention.  God Bless each and everyone of you as we embark on a new year proclaiming the wonderful message of our precious savior Jesus Christ.

Dan Andrews

September 2001

What a busy Fall!  It seems forever since we've had time to sit down and update you on Harmony.  But God has been using us, and we love it.  I'm sure many of you have already heard the new single from Harmony, entitled "America Look Up".  John has been in the process of writing this wonderful song for several years, but God recently finished it for him, and we were already in the process of putting on our new recorded project, when the events of Sept. 11th occurred.  We introduced the song on the Heavensound Showcase in Louisville, KY at the National Quartet Convention.  Since that time, our wonderful brother in Christian radio Gordon Griffin with KSKY radio in Dallas and Slim Cox with WEW radio in St. Louis, MO have been faithful to play it regularly.  It is now heard on 17 radio stations throughout Kansas, Illinois, Arkansas and Missouri, and internationally on www.wewradio.com.

Heavensound's Showcase was wonderful, and we had opportunities to sing with old friends Shiloh, Southern Spirit and Early Praises from this area, as well as other singers from around the country.  If you missed it this year, you won't want to make that mistake again next year.

We have been in the studio the last few weeks working to complete the newest Harmony project (due in November).  We hope you will enjoy it.  There are many original songs on it as well as a couple of great songs from our good friend Chris Machen.

We know that the world is in turmoil, but remember, "WE ARE NOT OF THE WORLD", if we are born again.  Use this day to tell someone new about Jesus' love.  Special thanks to all of our friends and family in Nashville, who so generously gave of their time and hospitality during our recent trip there.

God Bless,
Harmony

June 2001

Gene CloweHarmony is pleased to announce the addition of veteran southern gospel pianist, Gene Clowe to the group.  Gene has a great following, and is already known to many people in the Texas area.  His sweet spirit, and love for the Master has already made a tremendous impact on Harmony.  It's a "two-fer" folks.  Steve and Gene are father and son.  Welcome "Smilin' Gene".

May 2001

Well Harmony friends, "What A Mighty God We Serve".  We just finished a great month of singing and meeting new friends in towns like Early and Bangs (over close to Brownwood), and Rendon.  What a great time of worship and fellowship in all places.  We are looking forward to meeting YOU soon at one of our concerts.  Don't forget the Harmony prayer ministry, and our pledge to pray for any requests you honor us with at our next rehearsal.  Just send them to the contact email address provided.

It is with much sadness that we say goodbye to our lead singer of the last two years, Darren Miller.  Darren's beautiful singing may be heard on our latest recorded project, "Right On Time".  Darren leaves to continue his service to our home church Prestonwood Baptist, and attempt to keep up with his growing business.

Steve CloweGod has once again provided our needs in the form of a fantastic lead singer, Steve Clowe.  Steve is a veteran southern gospel lead singer, who has previously sung with Servant's Heart, prior to traveling with a national evangelistic ministry.  You can learn more about Steve on our bio page in the near future.

For our Houston friends, we will be there on the 19th and 20th of this month.  Please stop by the record table and say hi!

Until that day....keep singing His praises.

Harmony

March 2001

What better way to start off the new year, than singing the praises of our Lord Jesus Christ.  We are looking forward to a meaningful year for our ministry; one in which we hope to see many come to know Him in our concerts and services.

We began the year with concerts in the East Texas towns of Alto, and Tyler, and performances in our home church of Prestonwood Baptist Church, and with Lon Sosh and Royell Clark at KSKY's annual concert.  We always enjoy being with our good friends at KSKY, and a great pleasure to share the stage with so many fine gospel groups.  Special thanks to Shiloh for their hospitality and friendship.  We also celebrated the arrival of our latest project "Right On Time"...which wasn't.

We are looking for a pianist/keyboards to compliment Harmony...please pass the word along.

We are looking forward to seeing you at our next concert.  Please keep up with our schedule on HeavenSound.com or on our Calendar page.

God Bless
Harmony

October 2000

Well friends, here it is October and we are having a ball singing the gospel of Jesus Christ and getting to meet so many of you in the concerts and services.  I hope your family is getting ready for the upcoming Thanksgiving celebration.  I know some of us are already saving room for dessert.

As promised, the newest Harmony project, entitled "Right On Time" is completed and will be available this weekend.  It may not be shown on our product page by then, but if you would like a copy just email us and we'll tell you how to get one.  We think it is the best collection of Harmony music we have ever produced, and it features the 360 voice Prestonwood Celebration Choir (our home church) on the song "Jesus Saves".  What a wonderful experience we had recording and performing this song live with the "Celebration" orchestra on October 15th.  Thanks go to Todd Bell and his music staff who made the venture possible.

The new project also features some great old favorites like "When the Savior Reached Down" and "Oh What A Savior", as well as Harmony standards like "In Time, On Time, Every Time" and "We Shall See Jesus".  We also included Darren singing the beautiful Geron and Becky Davis song "Mercy Saw Me", that so many of you had requested.  Anyway, we hope you enjoy it, we know our families will be glad to have us back home and out of the studio.

Please check our schedule often, and come meet us at the record table.

Singin' His Praises,

HARMONY

Fall 2000

Bill BryanHarmony is pleased to announce the addition of veteran bass singer Bill Bryan.  Bill is well known on the Texas Southern Gospel circuit, and was most recently with the group His Call.  In addition to his tremendous singing voice, Bill's spirit and love for the Lord are evident to everyone he meets.

August is studio month for Harmony and we will be working on a new project that features all of the current Harmony voices.  It should be available in late September.

Rick LeggRICK LEGG ACCEPTS NEW ASSIGNMENT

Rick Legg, founder and original member of Harmony has accepted a full-time call to ministry in Winterhaven, Florida.  Rick will be worship leader at the 600 member congregation of the Winterhaven 1ST Church of the Nazarene.

"This is not a new thing for Rick", says Dan Andrews, baritone.  "Rick's heart has always been in church ministry".  "He has successfully served other Nazarene churches in Jacksonville, Florida and Richardson, Texas, as well as his home state of West Virginia."

Rick, wife Martha, and son Ricky will be relocating from their home in Richardson, Texas in late June, leaving behind the many family and friends they have made over the last ten years in Texas.  "We will miss him greatly, not just as singer and friend, but for his spiritual leadership in our ministry, states John Fulton, tenor".  "He has provided a great foundation for our group to continue in service to our Lord."

Spring 2000

Well folks, we've been hard at work over the holidays getting to know our new lead singer, practicing and spending much time in prayer.  I can't tell you how much it means to our rehearsal time when we take time to give praise to the one for whom we sing.

We hope you have enjoyed the new millennium so far and God is richly blessing you and your family.  We are starting to take bookings once again, and look forward to seeing you soon.

So long for now,
Harmony
